Blueprint background

Select Cases InProduct Design

I build tools that turn slow, messy jobs into quick, reliable ones. Inside, you’ll see how I cut a weeks-long geospatial QA to minutes, halved enterprise network setup time, made an healthcare portal accessible to every patient, and slashed call-center load by simplifying sea-service job applications. Each story shows the problem, what we built, what worked, and what I learned.

NGA Quality Assurance Capability (QAC) App

Streamlining geospatial data validation so allied cartographers can deliver mission-ready map packages to NGA in minutes.
Header imageA web interface titled “QAC” (Quality Assurance Check) displays the first step in a multi-step schema validation workflow. A horizontal progress bar across the top highlights “Run Schema Checks” as the current step, followed by “Schema Check Results,” “Run KERs,” and “KER Results.” Below, users are prompted to select a schema version (currently set to “MGCP 4V4.5”) from a dropdown menu and upload a file using a “Choose file” button. The “Run Schema Check” button is currently disabled. The page header includes navigation links: “Start New QAC,” “Running QACs,” and “FAQs.” A banner at the top confirms this is an official U.S. government website.

On the left, a redacted emergency document from “St. Mary’s of Michigan: Washington Ave. Emergency Record” includes patient data, triage notes, barcodes, and highlighted OCR regions in red. On the right, a “Text Extractions” sidebar lists detected items such as “Pg 4 of 34,” “Pg ID 872,” “smudge,” “DOB: 11/ Wt/Ht,” and others, each paired with a dropdown to classify error types like “Misread,” “Bad format,” and “Other.” One dropdown is currently expanded, showing selectable error types. A blue “Validate” button appears at the bottom.

WHAT?About Bob

I’m a Product Designer by practice and by choice. I design software tools that turn slow, frustrating jobs into fast, dependable ones. My work focuses on purposeful form and measurable outcomes—whether that means cutting a weeks-long QA process to minutes, improving accessibility for patients, or reducing call-center load through better forms and flows.

I don't deal in strategy theatre. I speak with real users, test what I build, and measure what changes. My background in marketing taught me how to sell ideas; my transition into product taught me how to make them work. These days, I work closer to systems engineering than surface design—just with fewer acronyms and a lot more empathy.
